My buddy used to produce the Mortal Kombat video games and he got hit with this drug while in Asia for work. They had him trying to get money out of the ATM but the drug made him not able to remember his pin number.

You can say murdered on YouTube but can't say raped without a bleep. What a world we live in.

This is why when my teammates and I are working overseas we carry “Drink Angel” test strips, and have Apple AirTags glued to the inside of our belts or boots, and can keep track of each other.

The first week of college, they pulled all the girls into a room and gave us a long talk about never leaving drinks out of your sight or accepting drinks from other people, especially things like opened cans of beer. If you come with your friends, you leave with your friends, all of them. It sounds like a lot of of these men could have used a similar talk, not just the women.

Ate a handful of jimsom weed on a dare in my mid 20s while on a rafting trip. Woke up behind a CVS dumpster 16 ish hours later with no shirt or shoes but thankfully, my pants. NO recollection of the afternoon / evening / night, but was covered in scratches, cuts, and abrasions like I'd crawled through blackberry bushes all night. Turns out, I'd crawled through blackberry bushes all night. Those peeps were my friends but still won't return my phone calls. Datura ain't no joke :(

My grandma was a nurse in the maternity ward during the 50's and 60's and she said scopolamine was commonly given to women in labor to help calm them down, but she hated administering it because she said it made some women lose their minds and some had to be tied to their beds to ensure they wouldn't hurt themselves. She's glad that that "treatment" is no longer in use.

Very scary stuff.

one very interesting story I heard involving scopolimene bearing plants was a man who didn't know about scopolimene but noticed that nearby jimsonweed plants were unusually hardy against diseases destroying his tomatoes. So he grafted tomatoes onto Jimsonweed. The resulting fruit was heavily laden with scopolimene and nearly killed his whole family AND HIM. I'm a forager. And I will share the number one safety rule of foraging; WHEN IN DOUBT LEAVE IT OUT!!! that includes odd plants that look pretty enough to go into your garden!!!!!

I live in the Blue Ridge mountains where Jimson weed grows wild. I ate the seeds with 3-4 people in 1996. We all woke up miles from each other and then the insanity begins and can last about 3 days. One friend was found changing a flat with no car. We all were luckily physically unscathed but not mentally. I cannot stress enough how horrible this trip will be and that’s if it don’t kill you or make you blind.

It's called daytura. In the 90's Australian govt removed the tree from all public places because kids were getting brain damage and/or dying from it.

I use scopolamine pretty often at my job, we give it to hospice patients with severe nausea/vomiting symptoms in transdermal patches that can stay on for several days. Knew it could make you drowsy because I've seen it first hand, I didn't realize people use it as a date rape drug. Jesus.

I was roofied with that back in 2020. A so-called friend brought tea over, it had this in it. I drank it, and I remember going to the bathroom to pee and almost falling instead of landing on the toilet. Went to bed, passed out the moment I closed my eyes, which never happens. Woke up on a gurney in the ER, was told I'd been found half drowned in my own bathtub with a fever of 104. I was lucky I was found when I was. I can't remember anything that happened. Any evidence of what he did to me? Washed away. I had to fight for that rape kit too.
