Apparently Bowie liked Kurt's version. "I was simply blown away when I found that Kurt Cobain liked my work, and have always wanted to talk to him about his reasons for covering 'The Man Who Sold the World'" and that "it was a good straight forward rendition and sounded somehow very honest. It would have been nice to have worked with him, but just talking with him would have been real cool."
Bowie called Nirvana's cover "heartfelt".
"If the mark of a good cover is that people do not even realize it's a cover, Nirvana certainly did a good job"

You know the band is legendary when you prefer the unplugged session over the studio recordings

The way the audience literally doesn't make a sound during this whole cover is amazing. They're completely mesmerized by him.

Wow, it’s been that long. When this song came out I was in and out of jail, addicted, and homeless. Now I have a husband, home and good job. This song and “Clover Cage - Faith In The Fire” are the two songs that helped me get through my depression. I just want people to know things do get better. We are in this together. :) love you..
