  hi everyone 🌟 <br><br>firstly, what the HONK! thank you, thank you, thank you SO much for all your support on this video. i’m truly in shock. i hit 1,000 subscribers only last week and i genuinely was not expecting this video to blow up the way it did. i cannot thank you all enough for your kindness and feedback. and i hear you and fully understand the frustration with me commenting on this without having watched the movie, and i am sincerely sorry for that. <br><br>because of this, i decided to find a middle ground for myself by reading the screenplay (i also feel really silly that this didn’t even occur to me in the first place before making my video. it literally took two seconds to find on the good old googs. hindsight is 20/20, i suppose). and i must say — this story is incredible. there are so many subtle nuances and metaphors peppered throughout that truly cannot be captured simply in a summary. and i know myself too well, because i read the screenplay at 11 PM last night and was so spooked to my core, i had to sleep with the lamp on. 🫩 <br><br>here are my thoughts after reading the screenplay: <br><br>- i feel even more frustrated by alex’s video because he spent most of his video defending bear instead of actually reviewing the movie. bear really is only morally neutral for ~15% of the movie, and that’s being generous. the majority of the time, he’s an awful, self-interested prick. <br><br>- the first sign that bear sucks is his negligence to secure the medications away from his cat. and to dispose of the sweet creature’s body, he just throws it in a garbage bag??? also, when he tells nicky his cat died, she seems significantly more upset than he does. i think this really shows how bear lacks empathy and really only prioritizes his own desires. <br><br>- i have seen arguments in favor of bear about the first kissing scene, and because nicky initiated, he can’t be at fault, or at most, the ethical choice was ambiguous. however, the screenplay outlines exactly what bear is thinking: he feels guilt, and is even hesitant at first, knowing that what he’s doing is wrong, but decides to continue kissing her anyway because he prioritizes his own satisfaction over what’s morally right. he knew nicky was not acting like herself at all, and suspected that she wasn’t in her right frame of mind, yet he still chose himself over her wellbeing.<br><br>- the screenplay also outlines that bear knew something was deeply wrong, but kept ignoring it because his wish to be with nicky superseded everything else. possessed nicky is so opposite of the real nicky, which tells me that bear doesn’t actually love WHO nicky is, just the idea of an attractive woman being devoted to him. and when the real nicky begs bear to kill her, he only pities himself, saying, “is it really so bad being with me?” THE HONK???? and alex did acknowledge that this was messed up, so at least we can trust that he can figure out what’s morally right when it’s practically spelled out in front of him (sorry, i had to be a little shady.)<br><br>- regarding alex’s mention of nicky’s love not being selfless — ironically, he actually caught onto something important, but of course completely misinterpreted it to use it instead as a defense of bear. alex is right that nicky’s love is selfish, but this is because possessed nicky is only a projection of bear’s wish. this shows us that this is what bear believes love is, which is complete obsessive, possessive devotion from the other person. <br><br>finally, i should have been clearer when describing my opinion on “girl” vs. “woman”. the word “girl” isn’t offensive on its own — heck, i use it all the time! when making broad generalizations though, using “girls” to describe adult women feels patronizing and infantilizing, emphasizing immaturity of youth rather than adulthood and agency. i hope that makes sense. <br><br>and if you’ve made it this far, you’re a true soldier. welcome to the goose gang 🪿💖

  I think the whole problem is that he just doesn&apos;t get it. He believes that this is a normal way to act, which is probably more terrifying.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn67SEudedQ&amp;t=349">5:49</a> the fact that WARNING disclaimer Alex put in his original video wasn’t warning his audience that Obsession contains themes and scenes that might be triggering to some viewers and more about “his own good faith take on the film will piss people off….for some reason” definitely should tell you that he didn’t take the themes of this movie seriously at all
