When I was a child, my mother to demonstrate how she worked on a Soviet teletype (ST-5, if I'm not mistaken). The first thing she did was use a tuning fork to adjust the speed of the machine's electric motor. The tuning fork was at 102Hz, if I'm not mistaken.

Very Cool! Played with a WU 2B Strip Printer, as a kid. Copying 60wpm RTTY with a BC-348, and a URA-8 Converter. Later a 14 Typing Reperforator, and a Kleinschmidt TT-4A. I blame reading class in grade school, that had a chapter featuring a WU/Baudot code chart and messages in 5-level code ;)

So began a career in Data Communications!

Disappointed there wasn't more Model 40 Teletype gear in the video.

Very interesting, nonetheless!

Happy Typing! --Ira.
