A condo in the tower can cost almost as much as it cost to build the whole building. HOA fees can be over 7 grand a month. If I was filthy rich I would buy a condo there. They are gorgeous. Thanks for covering the history of this beautiful building that I love.

My grandmother worked for the Tribune as a secretary to the editorial writers. We'd go Downtown all the time and because of her I always loved architecture, design, and writing.

During my early career as a locomotive engineer for the Chicago & North Western, I remember spotting box cars at the Tribune's Michigan Ave. plant full of newsprint. I ended my career at the UP (former CNW) spotting cars full of newsprint at the Tribune's Freedom Plant.
