I grew up in the NYC area(North Jersey) however when I was in 8th grade National Geographic did a story on Chicago and after reading it on a Friday our Social Studies teacher asked us what do we see ourselves doing in the future. I said I’ll live in Chicago. Of course my classmates chided me and many said you’ll never leave here. So for me the almost 3 years I lived in Chicago was one of most satisfying experiences of my life. I’ll never forget going jogging by Lake Michigan on my first Saturday there and being left speechless as I looked at the skyline. Love Chitown

As a lifelong Chicagoan I never have been able to figure out why nothing is named in honor of Chesbrough, no street, no park, no school...

Chicago is a stunningly beautiful city, and the river splitting the downtown adds so much character to the city.

I love home. I grew up 3 hours away with a fascination for Chicago for as long as I can remember. I was the only kid in Jr high with a newspaper subscription: The Trib. I always knew I would live here, and I have for nearly 20 years, and have loved every minute of it. Chicago showed me the world.

I’ve lived in the Chicago south suburbs for the majority of my life. I’ve been to NY, NY, LA, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Seattle and a lot of the major cities in the country. I’ve traveled to about 32 or 33 states and was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii for 3 1/2 years in the military after being in Ft Eustis, Virginia and Ft Dix, N.J.
There’s no question that Hawaii is absolutely gorgeous. The biggest issue is the cost of living there. When you’re in the military you can purchase your regular needs at the PX or AAFES ( their stores). If you’re not in the military the prices are outrageous so it’s unsustainable unless EVERYONE is working full time in the household. In Hawaii you’re also limited to staying on the island you’re on unless you’re flying (which costs money) or you have a decent boat or pay for passage (more money). It’s nice to live there for a while but I wouldn’t want to live there permanently.
Of all the places I’ve been I still love Chicago the best / most.
