Charcoal and wood do not end with level 2 and the Weber Kettle. When a backyard pitmaster decides to move past level 2, they face a fork in the road. They either prioritize the benefits of ease/convenience or the experience and benefits of fire management. The hierarchy splits into two separate branches of cookers, driven by separate preferences, often even moreso than price.

Charcoal/wood is itself a well established segment of bbq with several levels of cookers for backyard pitmasters to choose from. There are charcoal/wood backyard cookers that are of higher quality/workmanship/price than the smart grills in levels 3+ of this video.

Awesome concept/nice video, nonetheless. I just wanted to point out the opportunity for more in depth representation of a very much legitimate segment of barbecue.

It’s not the grill, it’s the griller. Fancy ass grills still need talent and experience at the controls.

I feel that the offset smoker should be everywhere from level 3 through 8 depending on if you have a cheep charbroil, or an actual legit smoker. BBQ isn't only about the product as pellet grills would have you believe. Managing a a fire, and taking pride in the work is half the satisfaction. Also a pellet grill will never develop as good of a bark as a real smoker. Convenience comes with a cost.

Do I have enough space to put a grill anywhere? No, did I watch the whole video through like I did? Absolutely

    Enjoyed your video.

As a Retired GenX Family Man,

The Weber Kettle Charcoal Grill has been our family staple for life.

Teaching the grandson to grill on my old Weber which will be passed on in the family.

Bulletproof build quality as ours was a wedding gift 34 years ago.

Gas grills are purely for pretending.

Charcoal and wood is a skill. Put in the time, listen to the pros, and the skill will come. It is quite easy to get “good” with a Weber.

EDIT: We have a Big Green Egg for higher heat levels than the Weber, but true grill skills can be mastered on a Weber Kettle.

Nice. but you missed the most important, the Weber summit charcoal. Smoker, Kamado, Grill and pizza oven in one. Have it for almost 8 years, still like new. unbeatable

My level 2 was a Coleman Trip Grill at $100. My level 3 is a tabletop pitboss pellet grill retailing at $350, got it on clearance for $100.
I love my pellet grill, delivers that wood fire Smokey flavor that was absent from my gas grill

It's a shame you didn't include the Masterbuilt Gravity Series. Wood chunks with the convenience of not having to babysit like you would with an offset smoker.

Bluetooth/wifi connected with app controls and monitoring. Fan control for consistent temps. Use charcoal, wood, or both. Some people even put wood splits in theirs. Wonderful smoke flavor that beats the crap out of a pellet smoker.
