I have a 4-burner propane Expert Grill from Walmart that I purchased about 4 years ago for about $185. It does not have any of the fancy bells and whistles like a viewing window or a rotisserie, but I work VERY hard to take good care of it, and it has been a great, solid grill. My point here is that you do not HAVE to spend an arm, a leg, and your first born to have a great cooking experience on a propane or natural gas grill. Good maintenance of, and care for, your grill are equally, if not more, important.

Very rare to have a grease fire on my Webber genesis. Just the odd flare up, gone in an instant. It’s 20 yrs old and still a champ!

I think I’ve owned four gas grills in the last 35 years. The most recent I purchased this week I’ve never had a flareup. I brushed the grates before and after each time I use it and I deep clean them once a year. However, I never cook over 400°.

I’ve had many grills over the years. The only grill that I had a problem with flaming up to the point of being dangerous was a Weber.

My Weber Silver B was bought new in 1999 and I still use it 2 or 3 times a week. The build is a lot better than the newer grills, good heavy cover. I also bought a used Genesis Gold in 2010 because I got it for $50. Love them. I also have a Performer and 2 14" Smokey Mountains.
