  I wonder if Hoover pulling the ball in the RPO was an attempt to save mileage on Beebee, for the back stretch of the game.

  Josh&apos;s best drive of the night was when he spread the ball around, it&apos;d be interesting to see Cig send the offense out without Becker.<br><br>I don&apos;t think you ever sit your most valuable offensive weapon, but Hoover seems to make him three first, last, and all-too-often only read. He&apos;s gotta get comfortable looking to Marsh, who might be the best technician, Chandler who might be the most explosive, Morris who can be trusted, and Preston who everyone ignores.

  The NW game was 3 or 4 plays from being a blowout but NW got lucky. If the ball is punched in on the first drive, Charlie B is hit in stride on 2 of his deep balls, Marsh hit in stride, Daley’s forced fumble stays in bounds, and Chiles gets sacked even once more it’s a 35 point win. It’s those little things that were not executed. There were no fumbles lost, no interceptions, unfortunately penalties were a problem &nbsp;and I’m confident that will get fixed. Last season the Oregon game was very similar to the NW game, a tough gritty win and by the end of the season the Ducks got destroyed when the first game mistakes were resolved

  I thought that Trent’s comment that Jones is playing out of position was insightful.<br>I saw the same thing when IU played Charlotte in 2024. &nbsp;<br>Jones did not have any sense as to where the D linemen were going and therefore which hole was going to be open (and that Isaiah had to fill that hole). &nbsp;Isaiah attacks beautifully as a hybrid D-lineman/cover LB. &nbsp;But Jones doesn’t think defensively. &nbsp;<br>He is always attacking.<br>Fisher thought pessimistically…”what is the worst thing that can happen here and how can I stop that worst thing from happening?”<br><br>The talent on this team is better than last year, but so far it’s not optimized to the scheme and the scheme hasn’t modified itself to the talent.<br><br>I’m starting to realize that I trust Trent more when he’s thinking pessimistically and I trust Tim more when he’s thinking optimistically.

  Lee Bee Bee third down run was Heroic broke two tackles to seal the game when he got blown up in the back field and I’m pretty sure he did it more than one time.

  As long as we continue to win our worst played games, we’ll be okay. Plenty of ranked teams have lost their best and worst played games already this year. I’m still cautiously optimistic about this team and I’ll continue to root for them, win or lose.

  People forget we were down to mich st 2 touchdowns &nbsp;, we were down to Iowa and Penn State..which took amazing execution to come back from....all I care about...is that we win. Dont care if theyre tight and messy....I just like the wins. With basketball...we had tight games under a northwestern. Sometime teams are hot and play tough. &nbsp;What is important is the end...and who prevails...thats heart and toughness even when some plays dont go your way.

  The IU standard is not to play November, December level of games in September. Of course, I was a bit disappointed so far, but I know this team WILL improve throughout this season. We can get back to him and ask about the standard if this team has regressed over the season. About Josh Hoover, my guess is he&apos;s still not entirely comfortable in the new system. Especially Josh and Nick are not clicking at a high level, but I can see they&apos;re getting better every game. What we need to think about is, in high major D1 level, players must move and make decisions like machines to be successful. If they have to think, they&apos;re late. I&apos;m hoping all new players become more comfortable playing in our system. Otherwise, it&apos;s going to be a long season.

  I think you guys have the best intentions of your critiques. I agree with most of what you say. My position, though, is that this team is not far away from being a contender. If IU finishes that third and 13, you probably see this game cover.

  I hope campbell or cuono get at least 20 carrys between the 2 the next game, keep developing that depth.
