  I have tears listening to these tracks.  I'm 77 and remember buying the album on its release, tears for all that's gone by since.

  The historical context of this album is so important. You haven’t been listening to other bands of the era, but this is so different than anything else that existed at the time and completely changed the direction of popular music.  Their experimentation with various instruments and creativity is nothing like the rest of the rock/pop scene at the time (aside from Pet Sounds which influenced much of this experimentation).

  I graduated high school in 1971.  I said "no" to my single working mother for the first time in my life when she was screaming at me for leaving a light on all night.  She kicked me out that day.  I was 17.  I went to work for a $1.50 an hour.  When Pepper's came out I was 14 and I would play it over and over and I'd cry my face off everytime She's Leaving Home played.
