  The C-111 sustained a speed of 195mph over 12 hours??? That's incredible. AND it reached a top speed of 253 mph??? That, too, is incredible.

  Amazing AMC with the first electric tiny commuter car seemed to try and push limits. Like the Pacer with the extra long passenger door for ease of entry. Remember the Pacer was going to be a current front wheel drive and beat the Big 3 by 4 years but they got wind of this and stopped the pieces AMC needed to make it a front wheel drive. American Motors had to do a quick retool and shoe-horned the 258 straight 6 into the front wheel drive body and converted it to rear wheel drive. Hence to pull the valve cover, substantial parts needed to be removed. They drove great and got decent mileage for 1976-77.  Then for worker safety, the Studebaker dash components had radium radioactive paint used to glow in the dark, unfortunately the workers who were using this mix, ended up with health issues as this early 1950's use was still experimental.

  I got to ride in a turbine car at the NY World's Fair.  My father was an engineer for Chrysler and pulled some strings

  My father said that when he was a young man, he drove behind a turbine car for a few miles through town. He said he could occasionally feel waves of heat behind it.

  The voyager 3would have been great if the rear had been a sleeping/living unit as an RV.
