  I actually ended up in Yokohama by total accident last year. I had planned this big Tokyo itinerary with all the usual spots: Shibuya scramble, Harajuku crepes, Asakusa temples… you know the drill. But after a few days of battling crowds and getting way too familiar with rush hour on the Yamanote Line, I needed a break. Someone at my hostel casually mentioned Yokohama, so I hopped on the train thinking I’d be back by dinner. Spoiler: I stayed the whole day... and then went back the next day too.<br><br>There’s just something about Yokohama that felt instantly more relaxed. The waterfront at Minato Mirai is beautiful (and photogenic, the whale back.... amazing), the little shops and cafes near Motomachi were surprisingly charming, and I didn’t think I’d love the Cup Noodles Museum as much as I did. Chinatown was a total vibe too. Great food and nice people.<br><br>Honestly? Yokohama kind of stole the show. Tokyo has the flash and energy, sure, but Yokohama felt more like a place I’d want to live in rather than just visit. Underrated gem, 10/10 would accidentally discover again.

  This was such a great guide to Yokohama! I&apos;m planning a trip next April and I’ve always been curious about exploring different areas around the city I&apos;ve heard a lot about the waterfront at Minato Mirai and the food and shops in Chinatown. So many spots to check out! I’m really sad the life-sized Gundam isn’t there anymore though, I was hoping to see it in person but now it&apos;s gone. Still, Yokohama looks like an amazing place to visit!

  Yokohama looks like an amazing place. If I become rich, I would totally visit the city of Yokohama for all it has to offer. I&apos;ve wanted to visit Japan all my life.

  I actually stay in hotels in Yokohama (Sakiragicho/MM21) and commute to Tokyo daily whenever I stay in Japan. Just 35min by train on the Keihin Tohoku line from Sakuragicho St. <br><br>Also, you can test drive cars at Nissan HQ. You just need an intl driver’s licenses and your home country license to test drive. However, you can only book online and it’s Japanese only. Also, if you want to test drive a GTR or Fairladay, you have be 35yrs or older.

  this january will be my 6th trip to japan and will be my first time where i booked out two nights in yokohama. this guide was a great way to add to my extended yokohama itinerary !

  Another bonus: if you’re an anime fan, Yokohama is where Bungo Stray Dogs takes place and you can go on a photo safari and shoot the EXACT spots from the show all over town 🥰 That’s what I’m doing when I get there in November/December. And if you’ve never seen Bungo Stray Dogs, you should get on that because it’s incredible.
