  IMO, synchronize the gears with one long worm gear and worm wheels on both spindles. &nbsp;Put the crank on the end of the worm gear to turn the tool. &nbsp;That will give you the most control and will make sure the spindles don&apos;t lock up when the crank pins lines up with the center of rotation of the spindles. &nbsp;Worm gears also lock the driven end so you can just use the cutter on the end normally in the lathe to rough out the starting point of the arc and get it into position before you start cranking the mechanism. &nbsp;The other benefit to this is it puts the handle inline with the other controls on the lathe so it&apos;s natural to use. &nbsp;And if you&apos;re clever enough with the pitch of the worm and worm wheels, you could put tick marks on the handle to see the degrees of the arc you are turning.<br><br>One thing about this mechanism is the only real way to get a perfect circle on the finished part is to only finish with the nose radius of the tool. &nbsp;A button cutter would work great if you have the room or you would need a very pointy tool with a generous nose radius.

  Watching you, watching yourself cutting the broach to refresh your memory made me think about the fact that an incredible cool benefit of the whole YouTube thing is having a super cured video journal of years of learning and experimenting in the workshop to look back at 20 years in the future. Should be pretty cool. PS. Very impressive fit that dovetail, I could feel the smoothness with my eyes.
