Seems like a little bit of everything. But to be fair certain Canada teams have had terrible and dysfunctional management in recent years.

I recall around 12 years ago, when Florida was absolutely terrible they were offering season tickets for $450. Came with free parking, a free base jersey and a free pop+ hot dog at every game. They couldn't draw flies.

It is funny to me that Montreal, the city you'd THINK would have the hardest time because of the income tax and the language barrier, has had by far the easiest time securing our core.

Some of the ones like Steven Stamkos pointed out how he liked that he wouldn't be recognized on the street in Florida; compared to where he was from in Canada.

Not every hockey player wants to be a big celebrity. Some just want to cash their paycheck and live their life.

Tbh I feel like a lot of the GM/Ownership Groups in Canada have been lazy as hell lately. They get one superstar and think theyre instantly cup contenders while completely failing to build around them the Oilers Canucks and Leafs have all failed to build around star players people will give the Oilers a break but their stars carried them to the finals and the team wasnt good enough to win it. The teams they built around Hughes and Matthews were never good playoff built teams either. Montreal is the only one who seems to understand what it takes if any Canadian team will win in the next 5 years it has to be them.

Winning and team culture is the most important just look at Montreal they might have 6 of the best 20 contract in the leagues with probably some of the worst income tax and pressure in the league

It's simple. Because they're terrified that they might have to play on the Leafs

Why do sunbelt teams bend over backwards to win? It’s simple, sunbelt teams have to win to survive. Traditional markets can be absolute dog 💩 and still fill the arena. Basically, the owners are taking advantage of loyalty.

Not to be all field of dreams but if organization created somewhere the player wanted to be they would be there ..
