  Bing Crosby never changed. 40 years ago I worked with the second family Nanny and she hated him saying he was incredibly cruel every day, when he bothered to be home. He hit both Mary and her brother and his second wife. They relaxed only when he disappeared for ‘work’

  I knew Lon Chaney&apos;s parents were deaf.<br><br>As a person with a disability I am a big fan of his movies. &nbsp;Back then, being disabled was considered to be a burden, people preferred disabled people stay invisible, housed in institutions or kept out of the sight of society. &nbsp;Lon&apos;s roles as amputees, people with deformaties, and even ethnic characters showed great compassion and at times showed that even people with challenges are flawed and capable of making mistakes, and even committing crimes. &nbsp;Although he couldn&apos;t know it then, I truly believe his movies changed perceptions of the disabled over time. &nbsp;That he was protective of his parents showed his compassion.
