Will we ever see another player like Alexander Ovechkin?

By far the most underrated aspect that only some creators talk about is his loyalty to Washington DC. In an era defined by trades and moves, Ovechkin never left DC. He never left in the early seasons with little success, obviously he never left when we had our hot streak and landed the cup, and even in our last few seasons of mediocrity he never wavered.

If you were a child like me who spent their junior years in 2006 cheering him on, you still have him after all these years. If you run in the right circles you’ve probably seen him a couple times around town. We needed a superstar to represent the DMV and there hasn’t been an equal since. When he hangs up the skates for the final time, we can only begin to repay him for what he did for all of us. From the hockey players to the GSA workers, from the suburbanite Arlington millionaires to the row home southeast natives, Alex Ovechkin is our player. He always will be our player.

That ending graph was more telling of how Alex Ovechkin plays hockey than the opening one was. Thats insane to see graphed out.

Some genius direction/writing/editing/whatever you want to call it in this video. The opening and the ending reveal are just great choices. Love your work, keep it up!

Damn brother.. I felt this. Being able to watch him work his magic from being a 12 year old pee wee, to now a 30 something year old beer leaguer has truly been an honor. Even tho I’m a Rangers fan, I’ve always had the utmost respect for the warrior that is Alexander Ovechkin. Was glad to see him win a cup, and will be watching when he inevitably breaks Gretzkys goal record. Cheers boys.

One of a kind. Also a big reason why the NHL has grown so much in the last 20 years.

When Ovechkin and Crosby first came in to the league, the NHL went crazy with the amount of marketing they gave these two stars. Even before they played a game, the NHL was calling them generational talents and hyping up a budding rivalry that would set the league ablaze. The NHL went all in on these two, overhyping them to the point where they were almost certainly setting them up for failure.

It turns out the NHL knew what they were talking about. Somehow, even with mind bogglingly insane expectations, both superstars performed even better than expectations! We got everything the marketing promised and more. As a Caps fan, watching Ovechkin's career has been so stupidly fun, he just brought so much energy and life in to this team. He's just such an exciting player, and he's been so ridiculously consistent season to season. It's been a wild ride and I love it.
