I'm curious—what category would be the hardest for you to declutter? For me it was t-shirts and sweaters. Tell me yours in the comments!

My first declutter took me three years to do. When it takes that long, you almost never want to be back in that situation again. I also worked on why I was drawn to buying items. I don’t buy online any more. If I can’t physically touch it in a shop to make an assessment then it’s a no. I added lots of friction such as deleting my card details, deleting apps and forcing myself to go to a shop if I wanted something. I’d rather shop my closet now haha

Since I recognized that I still have too many clothes for my "fantasy self" ...I decided to accept this fact, sit with it and then say goodbye to some items as well as..to some versions of myself that simply do not exist anymore or will never exist. Keeping some special pieces that will always make me smile even if they don't fit me anymore.

It’s so nice to hear someone that started with a very large closet - so many people I’ve watched similar content from had much smaller wardrobes than mine (around 400) and it was hard not to feel incredibly bad / it was hard to see their journeys as being possible for me!

The tight years, when we had a mortgage, young kids, etc. And everything was more important than what I wore, so when they got to that stage where the kids had started work, and our mortgage was finally paid off, I went through my whole wardrobe, and threw out (well donated the good stuff to charity) just about everything!! I tried it all on, if it didn't fit, I didn't like it, I couldn't think of one place that I would wear it, it went with Nothing else, out it all went, bags and shoes too. Then for the next 2 or 3 years, all I did was buy nice clothes, I waited until I found something I really liked before I bought, NOW, I have a lot of lovely clothes, they are all organised in my wardrobe and I wear everything and feel great. Now I'm retired after working all my life, and if I have an item that I no longer like, etc, I donate it and I allow myself a new item. I decided for all my years of going without, having minimal, I can now spoil myself in my old age....😊😊

I currently have around 150 pieces of clothes and that’s about a FIFTH of what I started with. I could probably still get rid of more but I am currently on a no buy and I think I can relax a bit (I am not adding shoes and bags because I don’t really buy those except maybe once a year or even less but they are also on the no buy list).

I have over 400 items and have no confusion about them - I enjoy and wear them all. It is the matter or organizing your closet so you can easily see what you have, and then pull an outfit out from the bottoms up and finish with shoes and bag. Easy!

First, it's probably better to decluttrr slowly because it could lower the chance of regret. I have gotten rid of stuff in a fury and regretted it almost immediately. For me bags are the hardest to de cluttered. They are also my favorite thing to have and buy unfortunately....

Bottoms are the hardest! There are so many variables for it to fit and look right. I struggled so long to understand that just because pants fit, doesn't mean they have good "fit". Still hard to find pieces with all my requirements. 😅

when you are looking for the summer dress, please notice that your dresses have a small print. So I would advice to stay clear from the dresses with big patterns :)

really relate to the almost perfect pieces. i have to remind myself I am very simple and frankly if something is too hard to put on or is the slightest bit uncomfortable or ill-fitting I won't wear it no matter how beautiful.

Oooo, the numbers make me grin… yay for analytics! 📊😍 Thank you for being brave enough to share.

I’ve found my sweet spot is 120-130 items (allllllll in) with 25% of those being accessories. With that size collection, I’m able to cycle through everything every 4 to 5 weeks, which gives lots of variety but also a realistic shot at reducing cost per wear on each item.
