When you travel to city like Manila, don't have your phone or anything valuable out in the open they will steal it. Wear your book bag in the font, if not when you're not looking they will go through it and take whatever is valuable. If you notice the locals wear their book bag in the front, or they have a bag in the front. While you are in the Philippines just be careful everywhere you go.

Anywhere you go, there are always 2 kinds of people, the good and the bad. So it's best to keep an eye on your belongings all the time.... So sorry to hear such a bad experience in your first few days in Manila. Hope u enjoy the rest.
