I have had the privilege of growing up in the shadows of Motown in Detroit in my college years. Those songs have been a source of joy ever since, The No. one is "My Girl". Gotta be! The first 5 notes known around the world, the rhythm, and the piercing lyrics. Nothing finer for all ages.

I'm 63, and I remember every one of these songs—and plenty more besides. I'm often disappointed by the choices in these kinds of countdowns, but this list got it right. I might shuffle the order a bit, but that's just personal preference. I've collected dozens of Motown records over the years, loved Standing in the Shadows of Motown, and even had the chance to see the live roadshow in Saratoga.

I am 80 and remember every one of these songs and so many more. I am frequently disappointed by the selections made in such collections, but I agree with all 10 of these, maybe in a different order but that would just be quibbling. I own dozens of Motown vinyl, loved Standing in the Shadow of Motown and was able to see the roadshow in Saratoga.

Wilson Pickett was known as Wicked Wilson Pickett due to his good looks and his amazing singing. My mother brought all of his records.

Oh I remember going to Percy Sledge's concert in Salisbury Rhodesia.... now Harare 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe. I was 12 years old.....1971. I grew up on these songs. Thank you for the compilation
