My homebrew theory is that in the distant future the illithids evolved and took over the known universe. After eons the universe was contracting into a point of singularity. To escape the "big crunch" they jumped back in time with their most devoted and delicious minions. Unfortunately, each ship arrived at a different point in time. This scattered their elder brains, disrupted the network and lead to the revolt of the minions that became the Gith. I have other theories. That the obyrinth developed and overwhelmed their empire leading to the time jump. Then the obyrinth waited to long and were too close to the end of time when they tried the same thing so had to travel via the far realm and got twisted. My last is that Ygorl was formed at the point of singularity and is moving backwards thru time to die at the beginning of time to create the universe.

They were so scary in BG2. I never stayed in the Under dark longer than I needed to.

Have you guys ever thought about doing a video on either the Staff of the Magi, Blackrazor, or the Mace of St. Cuthburt?

In my current DnD campaign the DM has reimagined mindflayers as more nuanced creatures and I'm even playing one in secret! Love them

Best bad guys ever! Devils and demons are made nervous by the mindflayers.
