  Something that always makes me feel bad about Florence is that she was actually on the rise of a small comeback shortfly before she died, she had gotten enough money from a settlement of her lawyers office to get her out of poverty, she started getting offers for interviews with magezines and even began performing again after a brief period of being too depressed to sing. Then that day came...

  I think Florence being raped as a teenager, causing PTSD at a time when these things were not discussed, ruined her. She had to pretend it was all good. People see her, smiling, glamorous, funny, but those are <b>brief</b> moments of happiness. Mary’s books fill in a lot of details of this.

  Curtis pursued Effie, because she was the oldest and the other girls would do what Effie decided to do. &nbsp;He knew if he had Effie (whom he didn&apos;t want at all) he essentially had the girls. &nbsp;Effie was the leader—literally, and the girls did what Effie said to do. &nbsp;So if he could convince Effie that he was interested in her (which he wasn&apos;t) signing the group would be a cinch. &nbsp;Effie fell for it, and the rest is, well...movie history.

  I think there are huge misogynistic undertones to the attacks towards Beyoncé &amp; Diana Ross. This phenomenon of the “chosen one” is not exclusive to girl groups, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Bobby Brown, Harry Styles, Paul McCartney &amp; many more are men who left their groups and found bigger success solo but the difference is that they weren’t demonised for doing so. The system really is the problem.

  RIP FLORENCE BALLARD. Her last name is also legendary with a rhyme to ballad, she deserved much more and I wish she had her time in the sun.
