I used to work for BBC News as both a specialist and a generalist in IT and broadcast engineering in a very specific role. I was forced out in fact forced to resign by the psychopaths in charge who had to shut my system down just after I left as there was no one left who knew enough about it to look after what it did. I was blamed for all sorts but it was in my contract and I was doing what was required. I look forward to the end of the BBC

Really, every ad hoc fix should be recorded. Granted, people wouldn't necessarily want to read files of every fault you fixed in a conventional or unconventional way.

Getting 💩canned out of nowhere worked out for me.<br>6 months later those instrumental in my termination got nailed for Embezzlement. 7 years later and I was paying in taxes what I grossed. 12 years on and its even better.
