Oliver’s silence reminded me of my dad. He never argued when his company replaced him, just quietly took his skills elsewhere. That company collapsed within a year. Some people are too foundational to erase.

Nope, if you fire him for "restructuring" but replace him with a younger employee, it's textbook age discrimination. If the role is eliminated, you can't replace him with another person.

I once trained my replacement, smiling through the whole thing. Six months later, that same person called me asking how to fix a process they broke. Oliver’s story feels like vindication for all of us who gave more than we got.

It wasn’t just revenge. It was dignity. He walked out with his head high while they scrambled like amateurs. That’s the kind of ending I dreamt of when my old boss threw me aside after years of loyalty.
