  Melissa decided to brave out the mist, kept her hopes high about finding her children, and she managed to rescue them. I believe that seeing them safe and sound in the ending is basically the writer telling us &quot;Yeah, that&apos;s what would&apos;ve happened if you hadn&apos;t lost hope&quot;.<br><br>I&apos;ve been told by some commenters down below she originally dies in the book. My point still remains. The movie director, not the book writer, is the one sending the message.

  That line about once the lights go off and you can’t ring 9-1-1 you’ll see how primitive people get is probably just as horrifying as the monsters in the mist. Pure psychological horror of the human condition

  I remember watching this movie in the theaters. Marcia is so talented and did a wonderful job playing a villain. That when she was killed, a group of people in the theater cheered.

  that scream was so intense and it hits you in your soul at the end. yeah the mom had hope to see her children and she did. they had no hope left and that is what happened. I feel this.

  Vague statements are how a lot of cons succeed. It&apos;s like the game of telephone: you hear an approximation and then reinforcement by a charismatic person turns a generality into a specific fact. People hear what they want or need to hear. Excellent review, I enjoyed this.

  Fun fact: Melissa Mcbride&apos;s character was supposed to die in the original script, David and his friends should have seen her on the ground at the end of the film when they were in the car. But apparently Melissa moved the actors and crew during her monologue, so the director decided to give much more importance to her character by making her survive the mist and the creatures.

  Seeing a paladin driving out of the mist followed by all the armor, infantry and even air support is one of the biggest unexpected slaps in the face of any movie ever

  Ollie didn&apos;t die, after being pulled into the mist he endured a several hour, bare chested wrestling match with the monster until he choked it out. He&apos;s alive and now king of the monsters.
