  I started my trucking career with the &quot;Crash&amp;Roll Academy&quot; in &apos;99, I paid for my schooling up front and Walked after 4months and drove elsewhere. <br>I spent 21yrs driving for a refrigerated carrier based in Fargo, 15 of those years was teaming with the wife and doggies. &nbsp;I was forced to medically retire after suffering an ocular stroke at 63yrs old.

  Retired regional driver. I always dreaded coming up behind a slow moving Prime truck. On a two lane hiway you could be stuck in a backed up line of traffic for awhile. They aren&apos;t the only ones governing their trucks so slow but one of the worst.

  I&apos;m making more working as a box truck driver without a CDL a license. I make more than a lot of truckers do driving semis. Seeing what I can make makes it really hard for me to go ahead and get that cdla license

  Thank you for telling the trucking truth.<br>My husband and I leased a big truck from North American Van Lines <br>New products division.<br>We could pick &nbsp;from a few loads &nbsp;when &nbsp;dispatch called. My husband did his training with them and then drove our new to us big truck home for us to get started. It took 3-4 years to pay our truck off. <br>We were paid .31 empty. &nbsp;After we paid the truck off we we could &nbsp;be more picky about which &nbsp;loads we wanted.<br>We stayed with them until PepsiCo sold North American to the pig railroad. <br>We could see the “ handwriting on the wall” and &nbsp;retired from trucking as an o/o.

  My uncle worked with Trump in the 1990’s. Said he was the best guy he ever worked for. Employees got paid every week but if you didn’t want to work. You went down the road!

  Paying truck drivers by the hour or, if paid by week, bi-weekly period or month, a flat rate that properly reflects days that a driver spends away from home (whether on-duty, sleeping in a truck sleeper berth, available to go on high duty or otherwise off-duty), is a very good way of retaining drivers if that pay is high enough.
