Which mythological parallel surprised you the most—or do you think another ancient myth fits Link and Ganon's dynamic even better? Let me know your theories!

It is the classic Hero's Journey. And those stories have a beauty to them.

When I learned about the Ramayana, I thought that it shared a very similar story to the Legend of Zelda.
To sum it up, the Ramayana is an ancient Indian epic that follows the life of Prince Rama, an avatar of the god Vishnu, as he fights to rescue his kidnapped wife, Sita, from the demon king Ravana.
He even acquires a divine sword, bow and armor to battle the demon king. I also found it interesting that Zelda chose the Indian currency "Rupees" as it's form of money in the game, i wonder if it was a nod to being inspired by ancient Indian stories.

It is literally the journey of the hero made into an interactive medium that allows you to walk that path. I think the Zelda team knows mythology and have studied the patterns to create a perfect blend between eastern and western mythology.

The oldest swords we’ve found come from Aslantepe’ in Turkey, what’s mind blowing is that they have the Triforce symbol on them… Give em a quick search, they’re wild looking

In the Japanese version, Demise, also known as the Bringer of Death, never mentions an incarnation of his hatred. It is simply a binding spell of the Demon Tribe, cursing Link, Zelda, and their descendants in an eternal cycle of hatred. Ganondorf, Vaati, Malladus, and Majora are all part of the Curse.
