IMO - Most of us that fish rivers and mountain lakes in the Mountain West will never need anything more than a 9 foot, 4 to 6 weight, medium/fast action rod. I will even go a step farther and say keep it in the $150 to $300 range. I have shorter for the high country where water is boxed in with lots of vegetation.

As a new angler from Texas, I have found AI to be helpful in locating fishing spots in other states and setting up multi-day trips. It has helped me for California, New Mexico, and Colorado trips. Its also help8ng me determine abasic set of laces to fish the 2027 cicada emergence in the East.

Man I hope this wasn't just a long commercial for vfc fly rods.... Not my favorite video from you guys. Usually watch all your videos but this one wasted my time.

If you fish for trout, a Maxcatch V-Gold cheap rod is almost the best. So good it got 2nd place in the the accuracy casting comp world championship. Yes, a cheap as chips fly rod basically won the world accuracy test. It shared first place with someone else with a different rod, but still the 2nd most accurate rod in the world, is a Maxcatch V-Gold. That is a fact.
