  I lived in Spain and spent summers in Italy for four years and I absolutely believe the slow communal culture around food is a huge part of why it is healthy.

  As Latvian I cheered. I on purpose grew fern because of this belief. Since being little girl and hearing about this from my grand grandma I really want to see fern bloom! I love this so much and Solstice means a lot in my culture

  I'm from Latvia and this is my favorite holiday ❤🌿  Also it seems to be the main holiday of the year for many Latvians. Officially we celebrate it on 23rd and 24th of June, but I'm seeing more neo-pagan celebrations on the Solstice day itself. I love both

  Summer solstice may be the pinnacle of daylight, but in Canada, it really is literally the beginning of summer as we have still had cool evenings and mornings up to this point. Thanks for sharing your ideas and I agree with you about food.

  I'm from Lithuania and Midsummer is actually a public holiday here. A lot of my fav childhood memories are from Midsummer celebrations. It just felt so magical and obviously for a kid to stay up so late and it being okay was just something else haha

  pagan police, LOL Love it! Sunrise starts about 2 am. here.........Christianity particularly outside the Middle East adapted to the pagan calendar. I am a Christian, my partner is norse pagan, I like to acknowledge the seasons of the year.

  We have that story about the blossoming fern flower in the Finnish mythology as well. It was believed if you found one, you could begin to understand the language of birds and trees. I believe it also exists in Swedish folklore as well.
