The Area (A) of the rectangle is 720 units² (25+33-x)(x)=720 units² ==> 25x+33x-x²=720 ==> x²-58x+720=0 ==> (x-18)(x-40) = 0 X= (18, 40). We REJECT 40 and accept 18. Therefore the Square's Area is 18²= 324 units²

(s-18)(s-40)=0<br>but why 40 appears <br>This should be explained<br>Quadratic equation gives both length and width

If the rib of the square is x, then, p=25-x, q=33-x. So, p+x+q=25-x+x+33-x=58-x. Area of the rectangle in this case will be: x•(58-x)=720 => 58x-x^2=720 => x^2-58x+720=0 ...(where x>0, 25-x>0, 33f-x>0 => xx>0, x<25, x<33 => 0<x<25).
