On top of the image it clearrly states "RECTANGLE" Area = 144cm² not a SQUARE. The image also looks higher than wider (a rectangle!!!)

Extend segment DE to intersect line AB at M. After calculating CD = 12, CE = 9, and BE = 3, we deduce that MB = 4 and ME = 5.<br>We have: MG = MP<br><=> x + 4 = 5 + (3 - x) <=> x = 2

in question you said rectangle area is 144 but in solution you treat ABCD as square not rectangle !<br>however if we assume ABCD is square and after found every side 12 and DE=15 we can solve problem with sum of areas of triangles that make Trapezoid ABED with area of (144-54)=90<br>[OAB]+[OBE]+[OED]+[OAD]=[ABED]=90 <br>since Height of triangles OAB and OBE and OED is Radios(X) and Height of triangle OAD is 12-X<br>(1/2)*12*x+(1/2)*3*x+(1/2)*15*x+(1/2)*12*(12-x)=90 => 6x+(3/2)x+(15/2)x+72-6x=90 then 9x=18 and x=2
