What Grays Look Like When the Witness Was Never Hypnotized

In 1987 a folklorist named Thomas Eddie Bullard finished a two volume study for the Fund for UFO Research. He had gathered every abduction report he could find in the published literature up to 1985, 270 numbered entries making 312 cases, and then he did the thing almost nobody does with this material. He counted it. Out of 429 recorded physical features of the beings, 377 describe one single creature. One hundred and sixty three cases, seventy two per cent, tell their episodes in the same order. Only thirty deviate, twenty seven of those by exactly one episode, and in three cases out of the entire catalogue has anything moved more than a single position. Ninety four per cent of the witnesses who lost time lost it at the same point in the story. Exactly one person in 312 described the full eight part sequence from beginning to end: Betty Andreasson, 1967. Then, on page 322, Bullard splits his own best sample by whether the witness was ever hypnotized. Seventy three cases came to light under hypnosis. Thirty did not. And in the thirty, hair beats hairlessness, large ears beat small ears, fewer witnesses see gray skin at all, and the creature comes out taller and less human in shape. His own verdict on the next page is one sentence long. This film is about both halves of that book, and about the man who wrote down the second half himself. It also takes the contamination argument seriously, with dates. Martin Kottmeyer's 1990 essay Entirely Unpredisposed noticed that the wraparound eyes Barney Hill described under hypnosis on 22 February 1964 had appeared on The Outer Limits twelve days earlier. NBC broadcast The UFO Incident on 20 October 1975. Travis Walton was taken on 5 November, sixteen days later, and both Walton and Mike Rogers acknowledged having seen the broadcast. SOURCE: Thomas E.
