i love using dice as currency too. Having a pile in front of you that you spend like tokens when you roll them feels really elegant to me when I can make it work in a system

I feel attacked, the d8 is my fav dice shape because it looks like a diamond! If dice are gems, thats the most gem like

My all-time favorite roll is 2d6. If six-sided die is nicely rounded on corners, it has the most satisfying feeling. It doesn't roll forever like one of those rounder dies, but it has personality. It stops, it knows what it wants, at the same time it gives this little rolling time. And when you roll two of them, it's most satisfying. You can calculate the result very fast, at glance, and you have also a very beautiful bell curve.

Because my wife has a math learning disability, she can't read the pips on dice.

So when we play The Burning Wheel, I use a bag full of black and white stones (in the correct ratios) instead of dice.

I really love the dice feel of drawing stones, it very much feels like your fate is in your hands

Anither point not mentioned here in favor of the d12 is that the faces and the numbers are much larger and easier to read than say a d20

I love how roll under systems work. It makes the small dice feel sharp and poignant in more than just shape.

Great point on fireball and why it feels so good. Hasn't considered the number of dice being abnormal in the system as a reason for it.

You already know the d12 is my favorite. I can use it as a d3, d4, and d6 too! And yes, it's a fun shape/die to roll, and the "swing" is pretty good. While I readily admit d10 math is (or should be) easier, the d12 just made more sense for me. I can't know for sure, but it might be because of all the geometry work as a CAD guy working with angles and circles all day long. 360 degrees, Babylonian math and all that.

Really great video. I can confirm, that rolling dice in Genesys doesnt feel that grat on the table. But since we switched to play online and the bot took over the rolling a lot of the die related "drawbacks" regarding the system vanished

Nimble’s Weapon Damage dice are an Ingenious example of making daggers feel like daggers, and Warhammer feel like Warhammers.

It does this through:
- Dice sizes (Dagger = 1d4s all the way up to a Giant’s Hammer = 1d20).
- 1’s = missed Attack. Leftmost die if multiple.
- Highest number on Die = Crits (Crits can infinitely explode using 1 of same damage Die used on initial roll - meaning Daggers have high crit and exploding crits ).

Such a fun system for Dice Goblins 😁

Something you touched on that I think could be a whole video is dice variance. That is something that has been on mind in terms of Savage Worlds vs d20 systems. Skills going up by die increase likelihood of success because the number is static, but the final results has more variance between die types and explosions as well.
