  Nearly 60 years later, not only does this movie hold up, it's still THE best of the Ape movies. Absolutely genius and a legendary classic.

  "Don't trust anyone over 30" was a slogan of the hippie generation of the 1970s. That idea also influenced the sci-fi story Logan's Run.

  Charlton Heston’s run of 60s/70s sci fi classics is amazing with this, Soylent Green and The Omega Man, all bangers.

  My mother worked for the screenwriter and she typed the original script, as it was being created. &nbsp;Every day she brought back the bits of the script that had been created that day and had my father proofread it. &nbsp;Then she also asked my dad what he thought of the story as it gradually took shape. &nbsp;He eventually said that he was surprised as to how much he liked it. &nbsp;He did not expect to.<br>The author of the book also authored The Bridge on the River Kwai. &nbsp;The screenwriter and the author met each other when the screenwriter was living in Paris after being blacklisted, &nbsp;The screenwriter did the screenplays for both.

  The continued sound of the ocean waves during the end credits was profound. &nbsp;It allows the audience to keep feeling the shock and horror that Taylor was feeling.

  When this came out (and still today) it wasn’t about the way humans treated animals, it was about how people/cultures treated each other.

  I love the look on Taylor&apos;s face while Cornelius reads the 29th Scroll, 6th verse. He knows those words could&apos;ve come from himself before he was captured. The fact he was a misanthrope who is forced by circumstance to defend the very thing he found so abhorrent (humans) is incredible writing.
