My first visit was in 2003 and for the last 12 years or so I’ve been renewing a 1 year retirement and multi entry visa. No problems with immigration so far. I’ve brought about 2 million usd into the country and have owned 20+ condo units. Now getting old and have more health issues and sold most of them, only 4 now. I’ve given lots of money to ladies including building a few houses, schooling, home renovations, family health issues. Motorbikes, etc.. I’ve had a few surgeries done. I have Thai drivers licenses for car and motorcycle and have traveled around much of the country mostly living in Jomtien Beach area but around 4 years mostly in Phuket. Mostly all good for me.

Been in Thailand for over 15 years apart from covid when I was out of the country for three years but permanenly back now. I've never had any problems with immigration (I'm on retirement visa) do my 90 day reporting (reminders in Google calendar) do annual renewals through an agent. I live in a suburban Thai community just outside Bangkok with vertually no expats in the area. Happy days people - just got to do the right thing.
BTW you don't get deported (kicked out) if you're not doing anything wrong

Living in Los Angeles, California.I have long enjoyed Thai food and Thai massages and never thought of moving to the country. No Thai girlfriend, either. Your report sounds sober and reasonable. Enjoyed listening to it. Thank you.

I am an expat from the USA for 3 years now. The one thing I have learned is this. You are a guest in Thailand. You must abide by Thai law. The Thai's went from being relaxed on the Thai's law to now enforcing them. The 90 reporting? Yes, I have missed it once for 10 dyas and I got fined. I must follow Thai lwa. Enough said. Now I keep closer track of it. And I try to renew it before hand. You come over here on a tourist visa and try to work? You are breaking Thai law. There will be consequences. Yes, in the past farang have been ignoring the laws of Thailand. Now they are paying. I asked my daughter-in-law who is a mid-level Thai police officer why the farang are being kicked out of Thailand. She said she did not know why. She said farang bring money to the country. There is a disconnect here. On one side the law breakers are getting kicked out of the country. On the otherside farang are welcome here.

I agree with stricter border controls ... Me in the UK I'm looking at the possibility of living in this beautiful country. You have to respect the country you are in ? "Whilst in Rome" springs to mind ...

Came to Thailand Jan. 2016. Two days in Bangkok, then straight to Chiang Mai. First week LUCK favored me. Affordable living number one and first meeting with a Thai waitress, looked 22yrs (she was 30yrs). Not girlfriend. She had no tattoos, no gold ring, no gold necklaces. Her family live in farmlands far north at border of Myanmar (Burma). Three months later hired her as a tutor helping me learn Thai pronunciation. Three months later, because of her friend Molly I attainded the best luck of ever. Got a 2-story, 3-bedrm, 2-bathrm house in 'The Old City' (surrounded by a moat of 1250). 10,000 baht a month. ($300) . Best advice- hire a visa attorney law firm to handle all of that. I've never needed 800,000 baht in the bank. I give my passport every 90-days, let them handle it. They have connections with immigration offices going back 20 years. Never a problem. (No, we never married, we're pals, I like a dad, she like a daughter.)
