  also, with travel, you're essentially paying a tourist tax no matter where you go. you're not a local. you're not a known member of the town/villiage/city so you pay at least full price for those rations. or that gear. it's assumed that if you're travelling that you've got money so everyone is always looking to charge as much as they can from you. despite the D&D rulebook, there's no fixed prices anywhere so you'd end up paying higher for everything.

  The average fantasy hero is the average Murderhobo. Major Emphasis on the Hobo.<br><br>As for the murder part whether you&apos;re the perpetrator or victim is dictated by fate.

Hero, champion, amazing commander, wildly charismatic, can spin up a warband just by spreading word of adventure. The whole time, though, he can NEVER get away to actually pursue what he wants because he&apos;s saddled as a sworn sword to King Alfred.

  Look at the overland travel section of your rulebooks. If they aren’t robust rules, you’re not getting the most out of your game. <br><br>I played a wood elf Ranger/Druid in a campaign set around Archendale that embodied this. He didn’t need roads, but everyone else did, so he built a road that traveled through his woods to get others in and out again quickly. That created the towns of the Druidlaw. <br><br>The distance between the towns was one day’s walk on foot or half a day on horseback. Every one of them started out as nothing more than timber &amp; earth walled campsite for travelers that had water and forage inside of it. When someone decided to stay, they obeyed the Law of the Forest as a Ranger-lord of the Druidlaw or they were burned out and driven off. <br><br>The “Queen” of the Druidlaw was a paladin of the elven goddess of Love &amp; Beauty who responded to sexism with a fist. The player who played her was defending the beauty of the forest and the nymphs within. She had boots that let he pass through the forest like a Druid. She wore a loincloth that kept her warm in the coldest winters and that was usually all she wore, preferring to show off her natural beauty. <br><br>Overcoming the horrors of being without food and water on a long journey is an adventure all by itself. That Ranger/Druid served Rillifane, the elven god of Stealth &amp; Survival, so he enforced rules that would make it easier for travelers to survive. If you didn’t know how to survive on your own, stay on the road. If you take more than you leave, he will hunt you down. <br><br>The DM loved both characters. That’s what good roleplaying creates.

  My biggest gaming moment was my first Cultural Victory in Civ 6.<br>The joy of a land so prosperous that other nations wanted to imitated and come over and admire the beauty of your national parks, monuments and historical artifacts is such a delight.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_X4VZCuYGc&amp;t=514">8:34</a> you&apos;re forgetting that this is a fantasy setting that has acess to magic that can easily get rid of these problem. Create food is a &nbsp;spell that can provide all of your caloric needs, and even if you aren&apos;t a spell caster you would more than have some sort of magic item that can do the same thing. These sound more like mideavel problems rather than fatasy problems.

  It&apos;s no surprise that in the fantasy space, the focus is largely taken off characters specifically being heroes, but the generalized position of &quot;adventurer&quot;.......where glory and profit tend to be primary goals, and strict heroism is an afterthought. <br><br>As such, this status quo tends to also result in a world of superbeings with extraordinary status and individual power compared to mundane individuals......where the superbeings do as they please and mundane beings are powerless as the fate of their world is completely out of their hands.

  I like that Delicious in Dungeon shows us the dangers of adventuring unprepared. Food, sleep, rest and the hazards of traveling in dangerous environments.

  As a storyteller, I can absolutely relate to that content. Glad my characters flying in an airship and don&apos;t need to roam on the ground too much. Apart from that the land (especially the woods) are super dangerous. You really don&apos;t go into the woods to hike or camp. The monsters aren&apos;t fun at all.
