I don’t think Dakota was drunk at the party - I think Colin was drugging her and then gas lighting her about her drinking

Starting to think I’m the only person who saw that Taylor had told a radio station or someone that the song was inspired from a conversation in a group of friends. One of the friends described how an exes new girlfriend had contacted her to ask if his behavior was the same when he was with her. The whole thing is fiction though a universal experience and the video is a fun murder mystery. It’s not always autobiographical.

Scooter Braun’s ex wife Yael Cohen was born in 1986 and they both got divorced in 2022. Sounds about right

My first thought was... why did Dakota only place 1 of the 2 roses? Is it because there is unfinished business that needs taken care of? Is the other rose meant to be for Colin when she offs him (because I assume that will happen) SO MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DAMN ROSE!

This feels like it was inspired by most of the men/boys her and her friends have dated. And a universal feeling that girls/women go through..

I believe it is about Matty. They knew each other in 1989 era production. She wore a shirt with his band on it.

It was a short fling, between Joe and Travis, but Matty and she, have a long history together.

Also, the actor in the video, seems to have similar looks as Matty, compare to her other exes. Notice how she and Dakota look similar throughout the video? So, imo, the actor protraying the ex, looks similar to him as well.

Also, his fan base refers to him as an angel.

This video brought back my PTSD from my ex husband experiencing severe DV and my ex being the sweetest person to his new relationships.. I cried after I saw the video with Dakota and Collin’s. Love the song though

Well, she did say that it wasn’t about anyone, a conversation with friends where they all realize that archetype of man. I’m sure she now feels like she has to preface every song with that like she did folklore and evermore. Obviously it’s inspired by someone but… The fighting. The making up. Walking on eggshells. The getting mad over nothing and driving fast to scare you. If you know you knowwww.

The songs about Joe don’t make me think it’s him. So long London, you’re losing me, tolerate it. But maybe! The long table looks like tolerate it from eras. But I can think of a few others than would be a composite character for her. And me!
