I found a copy of Wonder Woman #1 at an auction several years ago. It was in a stack of coverless comics that only a few other guys were mildly interested in. Unfortunately, the copy was coverless, but I was thrilled to pick up the stack for $32.

I didn't buy the Superman #1, but I've seen it in person and was in the front row of the Heritage auction room when the price closed. Was awesome to see that moment.

I'm not sure if Simon and Shuster created Superman 😅. Another fun and entertaining video!

In 1972, I was 15 and attending Phil Seuling's NYC Comic Con during 4th of July.

I went with plenty cash being Philadelphia Bulletin delivery boy since 6th grade.
I went home with a complete run of Strange Tales 135-170. Got many autographs, Kirby, Steranko, Adams, Kaluta.
And Action 1 was a $300 book. Plenty passed up on it at the time, including me, because I thought it was crazy to pay that much for a comic, when my Strange Tales run cost about $20.

And no, I wasn't counting color breaking spine tics or worried about appreciating asset value, ROI, etc. If anyone saw the amounts comics go for now back then, I never read about them or met them.

I owned Superman 1, Captain America 1, & 2 copies of Batman 1. All restored. I sold them 20 years ago. I wish I hadn't sold them. I also got the opportunity to hold and read a copy of Action comics 1. I broke out in a sweat. I've been collecting since 1966.

The X-Men not being taken seriously statement would have really hurt my feelings if I did not l love you video so much but Clermont and Byrne had the last laugh with their run making it probably one of the most common collectors go to books. Keep up with the great videos.

I consider a Grail book to be the one you’ll always want but will likely never own an original copy of. I used to consider my Grail to be THE book I’m focused on NOW, but within a few weeks, I’d acquire it (the first example I can think of is Dennis the Menace and the Bible Kids #10, which was only distributed regionally in 1980, and one online site calls it one of the rarest Bronze Age books of all).
Now, I use the definition in the first part of this post. Batman #1 from 1940 is my personal Grail, even moreso than Detective 27. It’s a book I will likely NEVER own, but the reprints I have will suffice.
And if nobody else mentioned it, the cover to FF #1 is considered an homage to B&B #28, even if Kirby didn’t intend it. And there was a year and a half between their publication. There was only three months between My Greatest Adventure #80 (1st Doom Patrol) and X-Men #1, which was considered a rip-off of DP.
