  Housing is one of the biggest problems. When you can't afford a home. You definitely can't afford a kid.

  Both parents working under stress of losing their jobs to machines, paying installments and credit card bills and not even being able to afford a large enough house is hard enough. Literally 50 years ago just one person working was able to take care of a family of 4. We can’t do that now anywhere in the world.

  Birth rates are dropping, but yet real estate, cost of living, cost of food and cost of fuel keeps going up. Someone explain how this works.

  I live in Japan and what I find crazy is that everytime I go back to my hometown in Tochigi prefecture, I see new parking lots and less younger people. Last week I went back and I am not sure if I am right or wrong but I saw more and more 80 year olds

  Its too expensive to have alot of kids. Both parents have to work, kid doesn't receive the proper time and attention. I was under the impression the world was over populated anyway? Lol. Im probably wrong though.

  These days, in order to have kids, you either have to be wealthy or you need wealthy parents that support you.

  my grandfather graduated high school and then worked as a machinist for 40 years at the same company, same job location. he raised 5 kids and had a stay at home wife. he owned his own house, cars, and when he retired he built his dream home. he died a multimillionaire in 2003. <br><br>today, that same machinist job pays $16/hr in a city where the rent for a 1 bedroom is $2200/month. to even talk about having kids, both parents must work in order to afford to support that child, but they cant actually raise that kid because theyre working, so the child will spend most of its time in daycare for an average of around $1200/month. the average job now lasts 7 years before layoffs or restructuring, so you&apos;ll change jobs 4-5 times throughout your career, but in order to get another job you have to spend 5 months applying and youre likely relocating for that next role, or you&apos;ll end up commuting 3 hours a day.<br><br>do you guys understand the magnitude of what we&apos;ve lost?

  Look where 8 billion have gotten us: Climate change, Ressource depletion. And it was insanely fast. I&apos;m 52, we were 4 billion then. My father is 83, we were 2 billion. Population dropping back to those levels so we are again less taxing on the planet is good and our only hope of long term survival.
