The Drake Passage is like the ocean’s version of a boss level, nature saying, ‘You’ve sailed far enough, now let’s see if you’re worthy.’

Dude you toasted Shackleton’s story, didn’t explain the lifeboat had to be dragged miles and miles along the ice, and said it was 1815, and didn’t mention he had a navigator that used a sextant to make it to south goergia, then had to climb over mountains that have never been climbed before to get to a whale station that saved them.

4.9 billion cubic feet per second=3.5 Olympic swimming pools 4:44 per minute? Might need to revisit that one!

Pretty impressive how Shackleton left in 1914 and somehow got shipwrecked in 1815.

I'm chilean, you can bet we've heard of Drake Pass. 10 years ago we lost a C-130 with 31 people on over that; we found only a wheel and a door.

I have to know, what on earth did that captain go through to think" right, from now on, I'm carrying 9 sat phones"?

The strait of Magellan was discovered in 1519 by Magellan and it is at least 28m deep and 2km wide. And even modern large container ships only have a draft of 16.5m, which means even they are capable of passing through. He looked for it so people do not have to pass through Drake Pass.

Whay was the main shipping rout still through Drake Pass until the panama canal was finished in 1914 and not through the strait of Magellan?

The endurance wasn't a tugboat
Lifeboats were wooden not rubber rafts.
And most know of this.

I don't remember what the topic was, but I recently refuted someone who suggested that it would be an easy feat to swim from Patagonia to the Antarctic Peninsula and thus ancient people could have easily colonized the coast of Antarctica.
