"Is there any bit of Murphy left in there?" is pretty much the whole point of the film :)

The whole movie is social commentary, and still totally relevant to what's going on today.

"I'd buy that for a dollar!"<br>Ashleigh, you really don't realize how HUGE and influential this film was in 1987! I saw it in the theater at the time and loved it. It's amazing how much this film is still part pop culture!

1. Fun fact: Peter Weller is currently a professor of history at Syracuse University<br>2. Robocop is best enjoyed knowing the satirical social commentary it is trying to get across.<br>3. I like how there were Robocop kids toys in the '80's.

If this is Ashleigh’s first exposure to the Verhoven-verse, she’s gonna lose her shit when she gets to “Basic Instinct” and “Total Recall”. Fever dream, indeed.

I guess you had to be an 80's kid to really "get" this movie; it was absolutely great seeing it in the theaters as a 14 year old. From "I'd buy that for a dollar!" to the Cold War jokes to the toxic waste guy exploding, we were cheering all the way through. Great review!

“Why is Detroit so sketchy?”<br><br>That’s like asking, “Why is Gotham city so corrupt?” Lol

Verhoeven’s aptitude for dark comedy, straight-faced satire, and ultra-violence makes for a very interesting experience.

"You're fired!"<br><br>"Thank you."<br>You should have heard the cheering in the theater when this scene happened. Those 2 lines are perfect!! This was such a hugely popular movie when it came out because it was so different. The actor portraying Murphy had to train with a mime in order to get the mechanical movements down like that, which I feel are very effective.
