I love the idea of this series because there’s so much pressure for everybody (both people with and without an audience) to read new releases just to feel like we’re all part of the conversation and have our own opinions on things. It’s really refreshing to put the focus back on other books we may have missed or ones we’ve been meaning to get to for yeeaaars. Even if they’re not the most successful ratings-wise, it’s still nice to solidify your previous opinions on each year’s books and to see the growth of authors you have come to love

I personally love when booktube reads older releases...I don't feel so pressured to pick up new expensive books. <3

When I read the title I thought you were going to read books from the ealry 2000s, then I realized you meant 2016. A decade ago. Wild!

 S. Elliot Brandis is actually Australian so somehow it kinda feels like it might be a case of men writing women and being painful at it 👀😬

As an Australian, I was wheezing at your accent attempt and subsequent telling yourself off 😂

I thought it was really interesting what you said about most romance and horror not aging well and only working in its time period. It makes it even more impressive for the few ones that manage to stay relevant and feel timeless.

Some 2016 Horror I liked are Parasite by Darcy Coates and Thin Air by Michelle Paver

So excited for this series! From 2012-2021 I was intensely studying to earn my vet degree and had almost no brain space for books (or anything fun really). I so appreciate the wayback vlogs so I can catchup on what I missed. ❤
