  Funnily enough, the starfish one is the first Animorphs book I read. I didn&apos;t finish it, but from what I remember, the girl turns into a starfish, loses one of her arms, and when she changes back, she still has all her limbs, but the one she lost is still a starfish arm. Eventually, the missing arm grows a whole new starfish body, which then changes into the girl as well, meaning there&apos;s now two of the same girl walking around.<br>Also, I remember the book mentioned that Tobias was stuck as a peregrine falcon because he didn&apos;t change back in time, but I don&apos;t know what book that happened in.

  I didn&apos;t think on it too much at the time, but in retrospect, Animorphs was pretty terrifying. That whole scene with Jake wandering through town, hell yeah, you&apos;d be paranoid as fuck too if you just found out that anyone can have one of those parasites controlling them. Your friends, your family, etc...

  Actually, if it is the first time you have turned into a dog, you two would probably end up sniffing each other’s butts.<br><br>Reason for this is because on first-time morphs, the animal instincts take over. It gets easier to suppress them in subsequent morphs. It’s a reoccurring bit: every time the kids acquire a new animal and turn into it for the first time, they experience what it’s like to be one of those animals until their human thoughts take back control.

And in the books, the author KA Applegate, she had no fear with getting into the sheer body horror of shape shifting<br><br>EVERY book had a few paragraphs going into detail on &quot;I feel my bones splintering and tearing through my flesh to become my carapace, sinews of my brain piercing my skull to become antennae&quot; and everything else<br><br>Also Tobias is half-Andalite, the dying one, Prince Elfangor, was his dad

  My favorite magic tree house book is when the two kids were transported to a civil war battlefield and saw the horrors of war and pre-industrial medicine.
