1969-1970, Elvis on his prime !! He is the King, no matter but what a shame : due mainly to Colonel Parker, when you watch the Comeback Special or hear those tracks, he maybe didn't realise less than 50% of his abilities !!
In two parts :
1/ Can anybody imagine which songs he could have sung in the sixties !! For sure, he was able to sing Rythm and Blues (he was fan of the Stax records), Soul, Rock existing songs he wanted but how many songs could have be written for him by a "Generation" looking him in the same time as the greatest in History and as a has been singer in his Hollywood movies !
2/ After showing first that he was not "dead" but mainly remained The King in the "Elvis Christmas Show" (The "Comeback Special" now), how he could let himself locked up in the golden jail of Las Vegas for seven years ?? Yes he had his personnal life troubles but he was diying softly but surely day after day in this jail !! At "Aloha from Hawai" in 1973, he wasn't already the same. Just "Think" that he never did only one concert in this era outside the Usa !! He made three concerts at Madison Square Garden sold out ! Look at him in "That's the way it is" and "Imagine" him in Olympia in France or in The Royal Albert Hall of London for example in front of another public ! Of course, today again, the reasons why he didn't go out US are not very clear. But what a shame for the History !

Since the July 31,1969 performance (he only played one show that night ) is probably the most sought after show not just for Elvis, but, period. (Unfortunately it’s becoming more and more apparent no recording of it exists) I would really rename this one . The best of the In Person/On Stage seasons, or something much more appropriate,, I’m telling you now. That is not something to play around with. That 7/31/69 shows is the holy grail of missing Elvis concerts,, and I’m being very nice about it right now.
