Gen Z und ehrgeizig – Sie trotzen den Klischees | Reportage | rec. | SRF

Gen Z is often described as lazy and unambitious. Melanie and Emre defy this common stereotype. The bakery owner and the aspiring neurosurgeon live for their work. "rec." reporter Noah Knüsel accompanies the couple and asks: What price tag is attached to this passion? _____________________________________________ 🔔 Subscribe to SRF Documentaries & Reports on YouTube now https://www.youtube.com/srfdok?sub_co... 👉 Want to suggest a topic? She's in the bakery seven days a week, rarely getting more than four hours of sleep at a time. There's hardly any room for a social life. But that's no obstacle for Melanie: "Going out doesn't mean anything to me – I go to work." Meanwhile, 26-year-old Emre is embarking on a new adventure. After completing his medical studies, he's starting his first job as a resident in neurosurgery. It's one of the most demanding fields in medicine: brain surgery requires millimeter precision under a microscope, and mistakes can have serious consequences. Emre faces endless workweeks and a great deal of responsibility. "If I weren't passionate about this specialty, I would never put myself through this," he says.
