My Triglycerides level is super low at 0.25 millimoles per liter (mmol/L) or less since I started doing clean KETO. My dad was a health freak and cut out all saturated fat and high cholesterol food, ate mostly plant based food and fruits. He did high intensity cardio for 4-6 hrs a day everyday, and at 75, he was skin and bones and had a huge tummy. He was borderline diabetic and later developed lung caner and died a painful death a few years later. Now at the age of 63, my diet is the opposite of what my dad used to eat; 4 eggs a day, lots of animal fat with saturated fat, fatty fish and olive oil too, no fruits except berries and only green vegetables with no starch. I do resistant training, HIIT, keeping my high intensity cardio to under 5 minutes, but walk 12,000 steps min per day. My body fat is constantly under 8% with a BMI under 20. I do have very low LDL, but I rarely look at my LDL level at all, IMO, low triglycerides and high HDL is way more important to me than my LDL level. I also think seed oils are way more harmful than saturated animal fats in general.

I lowered my triglycerides from 640 to 40 by changing my diet. I no longer eat processed industrial foods that contain sugar, seed oils, chemicals, etc. Just natural foods whether fruit or vegetables or organically sourced meats and poultry. The root cause is insulin resistance and you can reverse it by life style changes.

Dude has obvious visceral fat issues and yet is providing advice. Thinks alcohol is quite ok. I'll definitely be following his advice.🙂

We had a physician in our medical practice that ate fish everyday for lunch. Her husand and she followed a very healthy diet and were very
thin. Her husband got sick and no one could determine what was wrong with him. He was near death, hospitalized for weeks, almost on a ventitlator and someone recommeneded they do a test for mercury/lead. They were sky high. He was treated and eventually recovered and was discharged. Just an FYI.

My HDL was tracking lower over time and eventually dropped into the upper 30's. Conversely my Triglycerides were tracking higher over time approaching 200. My doctor put me on a low dose statin to improve my HDL. Still, my HDL hovered in the high 30's to low 40's. My doctor said I was genetically predisposed to having low HDL and there was not much I could do about it (no issues with type 2 diabetes, blood pressure or weight). I switched to a very low carb diet and within a year my HDL rose to 60 and my triglycerides fell to around 85 and have remained there. I stopped the statins. My doctor refuses to believe my diet had anything to do with it.

My triglycerides were up at around 750. I thought I was eating fine but I did drink about 4 cans of beer on Saturday and Sunday.
So for 4 weeks I stopped drinking alcohol and tried not to eat carbs on the weekend. It dropped to 180 which is still high but a ton better.

Why the demonization of fats and the push for low fat? Excess sugar and refined carbohydrate consumption are much more likely to elevate triglycerides.

I"ve always had a total cholesterol of around 200 more or less. Higher cholesterol is associated with longer life. Seed oils, sugars, and processed foods are the worst.

Low carb, very high good fats fixed me and I dropped 40 lbs. Just diet. LDL went through the roof and my dr told me to "get off that diet before it kills you" Got back to obese and had a heart attack. Thanks doc!
