I journaled and wrote a letter to my wife, every single day of the 15+ years I contracted in Afghanistan and Iraq. I believe it contributed to my ability to keep the demons away. That place destroyed good men.

I have journaled since I was about 8 years old. I’m now 56. It has certainly been a lifeline and helped me get through the death of my son at 14 and two, painful divorces. I believe in writing and this year, as an English teacher, I am going to incorporate journaling into my students’ day. Thanks for this reminder!

The idea of writing in third person seems BRILLIANT! Because, it somehow would seem to distance us from ourselves - and it’s so true, it’s much easier for us to solve other people’s problems. I’m super excited about this. Thank you.🎉

I started journaling a few years ago as a gentle way to release endorphins and give my emotions a safe place to land. I’d heard that unprocessed feelings can linger in the body and even show up through illness when they’re ignored, and that idea stayed with me. Writing is a way to let things move instead of letting them build up for me. It’s helped me understand myself with more kindness and given me space to breathe when life feels heavy.

Every night I write down at least 3 things I am grateful for that day, never the bad. No matter how bad the day has been there is always something good to focus on : clean water, electricity, your home, a friendly smile, all the illnesses you don't have!

I love to write. And read a lot. Journaling has been therapy for me. I have found a world of thought...creativity...and joy. An unpublished novel and a handful of stories and poems. They do not need to be published. The best education is a love of reading and writing.

As a nurse, I swim in humanity’s woes daily. I think to disconnect and journal will order my thoughts so I can let go. I will purchase a journal that I find beautiful to commune with. Many thanks.

I honestly believe that journaling has raised my emotional IQ and helped me with emotion regulation. It's my go to next to prayer.

Please make more videos on journaling. I'm very new to it and sometimes i sit and feel almost unsure of how to begin, this is extremely helpful.

The idea of journaling every single day really hit me. I am trying to remember these 4 tips: 1. naming, 2. off-loading, 3. distancing, and 4. story. These will definitely help me stick to journaling from now on. Thank you so much for this inspiring video!

I am 63 years old and I have been journaling since I was 13. I often think about how I handled the loneliness of my teen years and journaling was/is always there for me! I saw a quote one time that I absolulely love: "Sometimes, only paper will listen." Perfect!
