Coming from someone who owns the game. You could beat Shinnok. You need 4 Polar Blast shots (and 4 Urns to refill your ice meter). Doing so unlocks a bloopers reel.

Fun fact this was actually a huge financial success for midway at the time, which made them green light special forces, sadly it didnt really meet the same fate

I hope to find somebody who loves me as much as Ian hates the turn-around button 😂

You made an error around the 17 minute mark. Killing Scorpion in the first level will trigger his boss fight in the prison level. If you don't kill him in the Shaolin temple, you only get a cutscene with Shinnok at the prison, without the second Scorpion fight. Killing him at the first level DOES make a difference.

Also, beating monster Shinnok unlocks the gag reel video. Use the blast freeze over and over to beat him.

Make no mistake, this wasn’t a “great” game when it came out in the mid 1990s. But this one on the PS1 was, and still is, a guilty gaming pleasure for me, an MK fan since the original in the early 90s 😁

Sadly this is not the worst MK game. I would give that honor to MK Special Forces.

That damn level with Fujin as the boss was IMPOSSIBLE as a kid. As an adult it wasn't much easier... but the joy i had when i finally beat it was memorable. Then i got lost on the damn rope level and never progressed.

And yet Deception's Konquest mode and Shaolin Monks were smashing successes and people are clamoring for a Scorpion/Sub-Zero-focused sequel ever since. What I'm trying to say here is that people definitely understood at the time that Mythologies was just a blight in MK's history, but that MK still had single-player story potential. Heck, some of my absolute non-gamer normie friends said they'd love to play a RPG based on MK's universe like full fledged, modern Konquest mode rendition.

I had the 64 version and the saving grace that my friends and i would fall over laughing at is the fall scream when he dies. And even better was the scream abruptly stopping when he hits the ground.
