My cat has grown up with dogs. My dog passed Jan 2025 & he was really depressed. We decided to get a puppy 5 months later cause he howled constantly for his friend. He outlived 2 dogs. We didn’t want him alone for the rest of his life.<br>We decided to get a chihuahua puppy. The puppy was under 3 pounds when we got him. My cat had no idea what to do with him. Every time the puppy came near him he hissed. The puppy just wanted to cuddle & play. My cat hid from the puppy. We didn’t think it would work out.<br>He slowly started coming towards the puppy, playing with him. My cat is 20 pounds (not fat just really big, he’s a tabby) the puppy under 3 pounds! My cat has always been alpha & “bullied” the dogs in the house. He was unbelievably gentle with this tiny puppy. My cat is 17 & the puppy has brought out his inner kitten again. They started cuddling shortly after & playing constantly. Now that the puppy is 1 & 6 pounds he plays rougher & my cat does too but not to hurt each other. My cat stopped howling, he’s happy again. That’s what we wanted for him for however more years he’s still with us. ❤

It's extremely important to introduce new pets in a slow and safe way so nobody gets hurt. It can take up to a month for pets to adjust! People need to learn more about their pets! There's a lot to know if you want to give them the best life.
