  The lack of volume was due to a voltage mismatch. The 4V rating of the XLR means that it can take upto 4V, which is a Pro Audio zero reference signal level. However, it also means that the internal Amp Needs 4V in order to produce its max volume when using the XLR input. <br><br>Realistically they should have included a gain control in order to match input voltage sensitivity for the amplifier. I think they included the XLR simply for connecting to a Pro AV mixer or similar source. Home AV gear with XLR outputs don&apos;t always use a 4V signal reference. They&apos;re only using XLR for Balanced Audio which eliminates a significant portion of EMI buzz and other noise sources.<br><br>The use of the 4V signal will probably cause more problems for this Amp than it solves. For anyone wanting to purchase I&apos;d recommend sticking with the RCAs unless you know your preamp source is using a true 4V signal.

  I do like the power supply being seperate if its not a propitatry connector which makes it nice to replace if it fails, or power it some other way. But built in is nice to, but you do not get the replacement if its built in, we cannot win 😭
