  A psychiatrist convicted for pedophilia gets probation and retains his medical license. "He had a good lawyer." That says everything about our justice system. How f*cking sad.

  I've had 1 experience with jail. It only lasted about 17 hrs. They did not care about meds. Everything is taken from you, including your bra and underwear. You're put into a room with a temp of around 55° and huge vents blasting cold air onto you. Nothing but concrete & a toilet. There was an elderly lady in a wheelchair,  the guards came to take several detainees ( I assume to a cell) this older lady couldn't maneuver her wheelchair in the space.  I will never forget the jailer becoming impatient, saying, "Can you not walk or something?" I was shocked at the treatment. I know a 14 yr old who was taken to the same jail for having been caught drinking at a party. He developed appendicitis within hours. By the time anyone listened to his cries for help, he was dead. True story. Another person sued the same jail for failure to administer his psychiatric meds for weeks. Bc he couldn't remember every jailer who ignored him, the case was thrown out.  Some of these places are hellholes with little to no regard to anyone's medical needs or records.

  My father was a child molester. He was a family man, well educated, outgoing and molesting our friends growing up. People never would have believed who he really was!!!!<br>He was never held accountable, till he met his maker!

  In CA I was arrested after being on pain meds for 14 years. They cut me off cold turkey and I seized for three days. &nbsp;They labeled me as a psych patient before going into a coma in psychiatric solitary because I was incapable of articulating what was wrong. They finally took me to the hospital where I was out for a week. I couldn&apos;t walk, could barely talk, and I guess my medical files never followed me through the system so I was still labeled as a psych patient (which I probably was by then). I spent 6 weeks in solitary when I got back before I got to general pop, where I then saw a man die of a heart attack in medical after pleading with the CO&apos;s for ten minutes while they screamed at him and restrained him to a chair. He pleaded he had chest pains and couldn&apos;t breathe. The medical in jail is a joke. I&apos;m still not the same after my first and only experience in the criminal justice system. &nbsp;Horrifying.

  I got arrested and thought I was gonna die, I have extreme severe back pain from a drilling rig accident, &nbsp;I have been taking opiate medication everyday for 11 years. The withdrawal was so severe I was going into seizures, I&apos;m also on heart medication. &nbsp;They didn&apos;t give me any of my prescription medications the whole time I was in jail. They would have let me die for charges that later got dropped

  I&apos;m a paramedic and as a service, we attend a decent number of mental health calls, with or without the help of the police. Several times I have been in the back of my ambulance with a patient who was clearly upset and in crisis. When asked why they were upset, they have told me that the voice or voices in their head were telling them to kill me. The patient was upset because they thought I was a nice man and they didn&apos;t want to harm me. Always tough jobs. I was wary for my security, obviously. The more painful thing for me is empathising with such patients who are in such terrible psychological pain, and I can do nothing for them but bear witness.

  My daughter I fully believe has developed lately onset schizophrenia. She&apos;s homeless in Oregon I can&apos;t find her right now for weeks .. I&apos;m absolutely sick !! &nbsp;It&apos;s real in 99.9 percent

  In for-profit prisons they often do not get treatment. &nbsp;My mother went to a Texas for-profit prison for five years. &nbsp;After three years, she was dying of breast cancer for which she had had 0 treatment in prison. &nbsp;She asked for compassionate leave (this was a minor drug charge) and was denied. &nbsp;The slave labor I suppose was just too good to give up. &nbsp;After she was finally released after 5 years, she had only a few more months to live. &nbsp;So the point is that the patient had a VERY valid concern.

  That&apos;s an understandable fear. In Australian prisons you can go weeks before your psychiatric medication is dispensed and some of these types of medications have serious side effects from sudden discontinuation including seizures and death

  Psychotic patients who murder their children are very sad cases. Treating them feels almost cruel because they often regain insight, once the crazy thoughts dissipate with meds, about what they did. For example, the kid isn&apos;t actually a devil. Sad, sad, cases.
